Kelly Clarkson shared the stage with her kids at Bakkt Theater, making it a night to remember
Kelly Clarkson’s live trio performance of her classic song “Heartbeat Song” featured a special appearance by her 9-year-old daughter, River Rose, and her son, Remington “Remy” Alexander, creating a memorable family moment. The performance took place during Clarkson’s Bakkt Theater show in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the family trio delivered the hit synth-pop song with heartwarming energy.
Since “Heartbeat Song” is River Rose’s favorite, she enthusiastically joined her mother on stage, adding her voice to the performance. Clarkson chose this song specifically for her daughter, and Remy showed natural confidence on stage, unaffected by the large audience.
River Rose has been singing this song since she was a toddler, and Clarkson shared with the crowd that her daughter was eager to perform it on tour. Clarkson mentioned that River Rose had even picked out her own outfit for the occasion and praised her for “killing it” during soundcheck.
Supporters expressed their admiration for the mother-daughter duo, with comments like, “That’s a moment she will never forget,” and “A star is born! River Rose found the courage to sing passionately thanks to Kelly.” The next night, Clarkson invited River Rose to sing again, this time with her brother Remington joining in for added charm.

Clarkson’s children, River Rose and Remington Alexander, were born from her marriage to her then-manager, Brandon Blackstock. The couple, who married on October 20, 2013, welcomed River Rose in June 2014 and Remington Alexander in April 2016. Their divorce was finalized in March 2022 after a highly publicized legal process.
The lead single from Clarkson’s seventh studio album, Piece by Piece, was “Heartbeat Song.” The song became her biggest hit in a decade, achieving platinum status in the US and topping the US Dance Club Songs chart, as well as several other national charts worldwide.
“Heartbeat Song” was written by Mitch Allan, Kara DioGuardi, Jason Evigan, and Audra Mae, though the song later sparked some controversy due to its similarity to Jimmy Eat World’s 2001 hit “The Middle.”
In response to the criticism, Clarkson clarified that she only sang the song and didn’t write it, noting, “I missed that, though. Nobody worked behind the scenes.” She appreciated Jimmy Eat World’s gracious response, “Hey, no harm, no foul,” acknowledging the limited number of chord progressions in music. Despite the controversy, the lawsuit was never pursued, and Jimmy Eat World is not credited as co-writers on “Heartbeat Song.”
