“‘The Prayer’ Revived: Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Lady Gaga, and John Legend’s Stunning Collaboration

Celine Dion reunited with Andrea Bocelli to perform “The Prayer,” featuring a significant collaboration that included Lady Gaga, John Legend, and Lang Lang for an extraordinary ensemble. This performance was part of the Together at Home benefit concert, showcasing a blend of some of the finest vocalists in the world alongside Lang Lang’s exquisite piano skills.

This unique five-artist version of “The Prayer” was created for the One World: Together at Home concert, an initiative by Global Citizen, spearheaded by Lady Gaga, to encourage unity and social distancing during the peak of the COVID-19 crisis.

Chosen for its poignant lyrics of hope and guidance, “The Prayer” was initially introduced in 1998 for the film Quest for Camelot, with Dion and Bocelli recording separate solo versions in English and Italian. The duet version, however, has stood the test of time, inspiring numerous covers and becoming a highlight of live performances for both artists.

Originally, “The Prayer” saw modest chart success but was critically acclaimed, especially for the powerful combination of Dion and Bocelli’s vocals. It won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Grammy, solidifying its lasting appeal for various solemn and celebratory occasions.
